Electrification plan on the cards for Weenen

The installation of this project costs R 2299 483.00

On October 31, the Mayor of Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Jabulile Mbele visited the community of Weenen in ward 20 and 21.

She introduced contractors to the community and has promised five high mast lights, which will be erected in the area of Weenen, Ward 20 and in Ezitendeni, Ward 21.

The Mayor said the installation of the high mast lights will commence on November 1 and will take about three months to complete. Mrs Mbele was excited as this will create job opportunities for the communities in wards 20 and 21.

The installation of this project costs R 2299 483.00 and the Gemini Garden Trading 400 Company will be responsible for the project.

The community of Weenen was grateful and happy that the lighting of these master lights will decrease the rate of crime and also light the town.

The Mayor then visited the Osizweni area in Ward 18. She was accompanied by Councillors ZP Sikhosana, PB Mngadi and Ndwandwe where they introduced the contractor that will be electrifying the area.

The contractor said the project will be starting soon and pleaded with the community to work hand-in-hand with them in terms of making sure that all electrification equipment is kept safe and not stolen.

The Ward Councillor Mr SV Ndwandwe passed on a message of gratitude to the community for being patient. He also cited that should the community have any problems with regards to the electrification, they should feel free to report those issues to him.
