As part of the Municipal Thuma Mina Programme, Ward 7 was recently visited by Mayor Vincent Madlala and Local Economic Development (LED) officials, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture.
The event was hosted in a rural area known as eMachibini.
The purpose was for farmers and co-operatives in the area to give praise to God for the harvest they have received, as part of the Food Day Commemoration.

The area has a wide variety of farmers and co-operatives that work with the Department of Agriculture and LED to ensure that their skills are put to good use in cultivating the best produce.
Speaking at the event, the mayor highlighted the fact that President Cyril Ramaphosa has given all leaders a mandate to become servants of the people as part of the Thuma Mina campaign.
Also under the spotlight was that the municipality has bought five tractors aimed to enhance service delivery, and that two of these tractors will assist farmers within the 36 wards when it comes to ploughing.
“When the community asked for our help, we listened and we went out and bought these tractors to help you,” said the mayor. In his concluding remarks, the mayor thanked the Department of Agriculture for advancing the Intergovernmental Relations mandate of working co-operatively with the municipality towards improving the services rendered to the community.
