Gridlock outside McKenzie Street Hall
Traffic police are on the scene and have blocked McKenzie Street between Willson and Smith

Hundreds of vehicles are this morning causing traffic chaos in the vicinity of the McKenzie Street Hall.
Vehicles from Durban, Gauteng and other areas are parked as far as Smith Street and Bulwer Street as people flock to the hall for a tender briefing by the Department of Education on a school nutritional feeding scheme.

Consulting companies have wasted no time in setting up shop outside, and have handed out pamphlets explaining how they can help potential bidders with the documentation to help them qualify for a tender.
Traffic police are on the scene and have blocked McKenzie Street between Willson and Smith.

However, the increased traffic has impacted negatively on nearby businesses. AJ Singh of Curry Nichas said the parking in front of his shop on Smith Street had completely blocked his entrance.
He said there should have been some sort of prior warning that their would have been a meeting that would have attracted hundreds of people.

Other business owners also commented that they were not impressed that their clients had to park hundreds of metres away from their shops.
It is not clear when the briefing will end.
