End of year parties arrive in Coronation Park

The Dundee Magistrate's Court have previously stated that the by laws pertaining to drinking in public, disturbing the peace etc. have been promulgated and just have to be implemented.

End of year parties have arrived in Coronation Park and residents in the area are not happy.  One McKenzie Street resident who lives near the park and declined to be named said party-goers had yesterday resorted to bringing speakers into the party to enjoy an end of year bash.

“The loud music carried on after sunset. We dare not call the police as they always say they cannot do anything as there are no by laws and will only react to any disturbance after midnight. What about us who pay exorbitant rates? Do we not deserve protection?,” the resident said.

The resulting mess was clear to see this morning which just added to the previous days of partying.

Another resident in the area, who also preferred not to be named, said the only solution was for residents to take matters into their own hands.

“Clearly the police and municipality cannot or won’t protect us. Best thing to do is to dig a trench around the park to prevent access.”
