Road safety tips for the festive season

Try to recognise potentially dangerous drivers on the road and pedestrians alongside the road, and keep well clear of them

The festive season is upon us and we want all motorists to be safe on the road.

Here are some road safety tips:

* Do not overload.

* Try to avoid driving after dark if possible.

* Have a good rest before you embark on your journey.

* Take safety breaks every two hours or 200km. Rest, have a refreshing drink and continue once well rested.

* Do not drink and drive.

* Try to recognise potentially dangerous drivers on the road and pedestrians alongside the road, and keep well clear of them.

* Be visible – drive with your lights on.

* Headlights should be dipped well before an approaching vehicle is within the range of the main beam.

Here’s wishing all citizens a safe festive season out on the roads.
