The visit entailed a handover of two of the houses that were complete to their beneficiaries.
One of the recipients, Mr Dhlomo, is a disabled person and the house was modified to accommodate his needs.
This house was one of two paraplegic-friendly houses in the project and these are unique in their design.
Thereafter, the MEC and the municipality’s traditional authority, Ndabezitha Hlongwane, Deputy Mayor, Councillor TG Ngozo, and Speaker, Cllr SA Zulu, engaged with the local community at an event, which was held at the Dukuza Sports Ground. The event was attended by over 1 000 people that included community members and multi-party stakeholders.

The ‘Dukuza A Rural Housing Project’ is an initiative driven through the municipality’s housing unit and it was approved by the provincial department in December 2015.

The development will consist of 40 square meter (m2) houses with VIP toilets and rainwater harvesting. In total, 500 households will benefit as a result of this housing project.
In response to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call in the State of the Nation Address earlier this year, the municipality would like to announce that in early 2019 it will be issuing 187 title deeds for the Zwelisha-Nhlanhleni Housing Project as part of the municipality’s Thuma Mina Housing Programme.
