Knock knock, it’s back-to-school time…
Get ready and start preparing your kids for back to school.

It will be back to school on January 9. That means back to early mornings, preparing children for school, making those lunch boxes and ensuring that they have everything for the day.
Also, driving them to school and picking them later after school. Back to monitoring if they have done their homework and that they study every day. I know it’s the festive season and no one is perhaps paying that much attention to “back to school”. but we cannot ignore it. That time is just around the corner!
It is going to be difficult for the children to wake up on the first day, even though they’ll be full of excitement to meet with their peers after a long time of being apart. Get ready for it and start preparing your kids for back to school.
It’s going to be an emotional day for parents who will be taking their children to Grade R, seeing their children starting the journey. Of course, some toddlers will be so excited and some not so keen to be away from their mothers in an environment that is strange.
Caxton has lists of steps to follow in order to ready their kids for BACK TO SCHOOL:
- Do shopping for school, uniforms, school bags, lunch boxes, stationery, etc. It’s quite cheap during the festive season. Prices will skyrocket in January.
- Go back to the sleep time – It’s important to get your children to go back to their normal bedtime. If you do that, it will not be a hassle for them to wake up on their first day of school and onward.
- Start covering their books and ensuring that everything is in order beforehand.
- School customs – start by re-establishing school routines for your kids. If the first thing they do when they get back home is to do their homework, start by giving them books to read.
- Get them used to their studying or homework place again.
- Limit the time they spend watching TV or using their laptops or cell-phones. If you always switch off the TV and take their cell-phones at 7.30pm, start doing it again.
- Do a review on school material and information issued by the school for the following year.
