BREAKING: One dead and two seriously injured in Allen Street head-on crash
A bakkie and a light motor vehicle were involved in a head-on collision just after 2.30pm.

One person has died and two others are in a critical condition after the cars they were travelling in collided on Allen Street.
A bakkie and a light motor vehicle were involved in a head-on collision just after 2.30pm this afternoon.

It is believed the driver of the bakkie succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the passenger is in a serious medical state. The driver of the second vehicle has also been treated at the scene.
Ambulance services are at the scene attempting to stabilise the surviving victim.
The Newcastle Advertiser extends its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this time.
The affected portion of Allen Street remains closed to traffic and motorists travelling in that direction are urged to practice caution.
