The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is appealing to the community to please donate precious blood, as the situation is critical in KZN.
“Our national blood supply is currently at just 2.1 days’ Group O stock, amounting to just over 1958 units of O blood available around the country,” says Sifiso Khoza, regional marketing manager for the SANBS.
“The situation, simply, is critical. We need South Africans – active donors, lapsed donors and potential donors – to stand together right now to bolster the national blood stock.

“By donating blood only four times a year, we can easily avoid situations such as the one in which we find ourselves,” explains Khoza.
