New face at Ladysmith Blood Donor Clinic

Ever since she was a young girl, she wanted to be a nurse - she was never afraid of blood and all she wanted to do was help!

When you walk into the Ladysmith Blood Donor Clinic at San Marco Centre, you will be greeted by a new and friendly face.

She is the new clinic supervisor, 27-year-old Zikhona Lupondo, who is there to help you with blood donations and any enquiries you may have.

Ever since she was a young girl, she wanted to be a nurse – she was never afraid of blood and all she wanted to do was help!

Zikhona was born and raised in Cape Town. After matriculating, she studied at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

In 2015, she started working as a registered nurse in the Northern Cape and two years later, in 2017, she joined the dynamic South African National Blood Service (SANBS) as a donor care officer, also in the Northern Cape.

She tells us that she was looking for greener pastures and that’s when she heard about the vacancy in Ladysmith. She decided to apply and was so excited to be accepted for the post.

“I am eager to work with the friendly team in Ladysmith and I know that we, as a team, will help the community,” says Zikhona.

The staff at the Ladysmith Blood Donor Clinic are equally excited to have Zikhona join their team.

Zikhona urges the community to please donate blood, as the SANBS are in desperate need of it.
