Vryheid Hospital has responded to the matter regarding medication shortages that was reported in the Vryheid Herald last week.

Spokesman for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health, Sam Mkhwanazi, said:

“Public health facilities rely on suppliers for medicine stocks. Some of these medicines are not manufactured locally. Where possible, and on the advice of the National Essential Medicine List Committee, alternative medicine is used.”
