Watch: Freak hail storm hits many areas throughout Ladysmith

Along with the hail came heavy wind and rain, leaving many streets flooded with water

A freak hail storm swept through Ladysmith on Wednesday evening (March 20).

Hail the size of golf balls and bigger fell, leaving a path of destruction through many areas of Ladysmith.

Along with the hail came heavy wind and rain, leaving many streets flooded with water.

It is believed that the area around Platrand Lodge was severely hit by the storm.

Homes in Steadville, Meena Place and Smartiesville were flooded due to the severe downpour.

Many areas were also left without electricity after the devastating storm.

Due to the darkness of the night many home owners can only assess their damages to homes and cars at first light.
