UPDATE: 2 farm attack suspects detained and then released
An attempted farm attack took place earlier this evening.
Information sent via a local farmers’ network indicates a group of would-be robbers were headed off, en route to a farm a few kilometres outside Newcastle (past Grey Goose Game Lodge).
Two suspects, one of them armed, are on the run from authorities.
Newcastle 911’s Mornè Potgieter confirmed SAPS, Ithemba Security and farmers were at the farm.
The K9 Unit is following the trail after the suspects.
