People had the opportunity to talk about Helena and shared special memories with her

Helena Mann has lived through decades of memories, all of which make for amazing stories to tell everyone who knows this friendly woman.
Helena was blessed and excited to celebrate her 95th birthday on March 26. Her charisma, charm and incredible wit leaves young and old in awe of her compassion, humility and vivid memory.
Mrs Mann was born in the Cape, but moved to Ladysmith with her parents as a young girl when her dad was transferred. She schooled here and afterwards became a nurse at the old Sanatorium where La Verna is today.
She was then accepted to nurse at Grey’s Hospital, but fate had other plans. She married the man of her dreams in 1944 and gave birth to a beautiful daughter named Paula, who is now 74 years old.
Helena has lived at the Koekie Jacobsz Senior Centre for the past 22 years, since her husband passed away.
