Specialist helps business make sense

Batista added small incremental changes could produce big results.

Carlos Batista says he has all the answers to questions posed bysmall businesses.

At a business workshop hosted last Friday (April 5), the Business Turnaround Specialist delivered a two-hour presentation to business owners in Newcastle.

“I’m not here to sell you anything, but you will leave with a wealth of information that is guaranteed to boost your business,” he promised.

Batista focused on five main business strategies: networking, joint-venturing, up-selling and down-selling and the importance of referrals.

“As small business owners, we need to ask ourselves the following questions: Do you understand your customer? Do you know your customers and where they are from?”

Batista spent eight years in Europe and travelled the country to acquire the tools, resources and skills he needed to equip businesses with these strategies.

He explained his coaching skills have helped many clients turnaround their business and make money.

“I have consulted with business owners in Johannesburg, Nelspruit and Newcastle. There is no shame in admitting that you don’t know how to manage certain functions in your business. You can’t know everything; that is why I’m here,” said Batista.

At the worskhop, he encouraged business owners to take part in the interactive booklet provided, which helped to identify issues many could be facing.

“80 per cent of your turnover comes from 20 per cent of what you do. There are five main areas businesses need to focus on: lead, conversions, transactions, prices and profits.”

Batista added small incremental changes could produce big results.

“You need to understand where you are now, before you know where you’re going,” he concluded.
