A Palm Sunday procession in Dannhauser

The procession began at the Dannhauser Secondary School and wound its way up towards the church

Parishioners of St Paul’s Catholic Church took to the streets of Dannhauser on Sunday for a procession to celebrate Palm Sunday.

The procession began at the Dannhauser Secondary School and wound its way up towards the church, while churchgoers sang hymns along the way.

Parish Priest, Father Marek Mlynarczyk officiated the mass. Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent and marks the beginning of Holy Week.

It also commemorates the arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified. During Palm Sunday Mass, palms are distributed to parishioners who carry them in a ritual procession into church.

The palms are blessed and many people will fashion them into small crosses or other items of personal devotion.
