1. Train derailment – A good train derailed near the Connor Street bridge. Seven of the wagons carrying dry maize derailed.

2. Taxi rank debate – mixed reactions – The municipality called on the public to submit suggestions for the relocation of the taxi rank behind the Estcourt Methodist Church to a vacant area in Albert Street.

3. Man shot while wife sleeps – Mr HL Rhodes from Bergville was shot and wounded by intruders when he went out to investigate why hid dogs were barking.
