“Beautiful” spider dwells in Ladysmith home for years
The Nursery Web Spider has been residing in the wall near a tap for quite a few years now

A spider that many would describe as strange-looking and repulsive has been living at the home of Ladysmith resident Mrs Joubert.
Mrs Joubert, however, is a lover of arachnids and has no problem with sharing her living space with this Nursery Web Spider, that often gives birth to little spiders.
Mrs Joubert says this spider has been residing in the wall near a tap for quite a few years now. According to the homeowner, these spiders will carry their eggs in a small silk cocoon until they hatch and will protect the spiderlings (young spiders) until they are big enough to wander off to new places and start a family of their own.
Normally in winter, this one will make a new web in the bathroom and then in summer, she moves back outside.
“She and her babies are beautiful and I will continue keeping them at my home,” says Mrs Joubert.
