Wires are a blank canvas for Angie Sithole
At first, Angie's artistry was making wire cars for friends and family, but once things took off, he saw a genuine business opportunity.
Angie Sithole (24) is a creative whiz with wire and pliers.
Artistically known as KwaSithole, the Stratford Farm resident is earning a reputation for being creative, using recycled materials to create all manner of trains, planes and automobiles.
This artistic streak began as a coping mechanism, after the death of his mother.
Despite attending Livangeli Primary School, his mother’s passing led Angie to give up on life, and he never made the jump to high school.
“After my mother died, everything stopped. I couldn’t even concentrate in class and that’s when I decided to quit school. This was not a wise choice, but I found making wire cars with different coloured wire was de-stressing, and I was able to pass time with my new-found hobby.”
Angie gets his wire from a recycling plant in KwaSithole, and then works his magic using pliers.
“I can make messages of hope using wire, like love, hope, happiness and joy. I can even make people’s names. My work is quite versatile and it all depends on what my client wants.”

While he only recently started selling his wire cars, Angie hopes to continue using his creativity as a means to support his family.
It’s a business opportunity which has grown in scope and scale.
“I would rather have an honest job making wire cars, than do drugs. At least I am making an honest living and only hope the youth of South Africa can do the same, and not fall prey to drugs,” he concluded.
