Poaching persists at Klipfontein

"The facilities are basically non existent, and with these illegal nets we keep having to pull out of the dam, it's clear these poachers are intent on destroying the whole ecosystem with their criminal activity."

Poaching continues to plague what was once a popular fishing spot for locals and tourists alike.
Local anglers are up in arms at the discovery of more illegal nets in the Klipfontein Dam, stating the entire dam facility appeared to have ‘gone to the dogs’.

Anglers remove the illegal fishing nets from the dam, before destroying them.

Describing the state of disrepair at the dam, Robbie Price says, “The facilities are basically non existent, and with these illegal nets we keep having to pull out of the dam, it’s clear these poachers are intent on destroying the whole ecosystem with their criminal activity.”

Price has been a regular at the dam for well over thirty years, and in all that time, he claims the situation has never been as bad as it is now.

“One has to wonder, at this rate, if there is even any hope left for Klipfontein Dam.”
