Ambitious local lady could be the winner, she just needs your votes

Vote for her by SMSing the word Londathina to 35334

23-year-old Londathina Mbatha is a young woman from Ladysmith, who is doing great things in Durban. She is currently taking part in a competition called Empress South Africa (ESA), representing KwaZulu-Natal. This competition is all about women empowerment and selfdevelopment, through boosting self-esteem and building industry brands. ESA teaches women to believe in themselves and go after their dreams. Numerous activities take place over the course of the competition, incorporating charity and overcoming one’s fears. Londathina would like Ladysmith residents to help her win this competition, by voting her into the finals. “I would really appreciate it if Ladysmith people would show their support, as I’m proud of where I come from,” she says enthusiastically.

“This young lady has achieved so much already in life. She is a varsity college graduate, a model, a presenter of two online radio stations in Durban, and the author of a book called ‘A whole 22 years old’, which was published in January this year. She also owns a local branded clothing line. Despite her success now, Londathina grew up the hard way.

She is from Ekuvukeni and was raised by a single parent, attending more than five primary schools in her life, before moving to multiracial schools in the Dundee area.

The reason Londathina attended Dundee schools, was because transport from her township to Ladysmith became a problem. Children took public buses, which were full most of the time. However, Londathina believes changing schools every year helped her not fear change in her life – it taught her to become independent at a very young age and not to rely on people, in order to grow and reach her destiny. Londathina says she used to walk to school by herself when she was living in Dundee. From Dundee, she decided to complete her high school years in Durban.

After matric, she went to varsity, where she felt she coped well because she was used to adapting to change. Londathina studied towards a degree in Psychology, which in turn helped her realise her love for the media industry. As a model, she does photoshoots, she’s a radio personality and now she’s in a competition which seeks to empower and develop women. After ESA, she looks forward to working with big brands and non-government organisations, and plans to launch her own non-profit organisation soon.

Through this, she is intent on giving back to the community by helping young, ambitious people (like herself) gain self-belief. Londathina also wants to open her own art academy, because she feels there is lots of untapped talent in Ladysmith still to be unearthed. Residents can follow and like her competition page (public figurelondambatha_mesa2019).

Vote for her by SMSing the word Londathina to 35334. Each vote is worth three points and SMSs cost R3. You can vote as many times as you like, so let’s all vote for our local young empress. All the best, Londathina!
