The health and maintenance of the landfill site has come under scrutiny after the carcasses of dead dogs and goats were spotted

How common is it to see dead dogs and goats dumped at the Estcourt Landfill Site?

Mr Parker visited the site about two weeks back and could not ignore the rotting smell that filled the air.

“It was disgusting and can cause disease. Why can people not just go and dump their rubble? Dead dogs and goats are a health hazard,” Mr Parker said firmly.

The local landfill site sign board states: non-permitted waste: hazardous and medical waste. Mr Parker wants to know how residents wanting to dump dead animals are allowed entry and if it is not considered hazardous?

Mr Parker explained that not far from this heap of rubbish was where he saw dead dogs and goats dumped.

“The only thing that makes sense is if those animals were sick, in that case the people dumping waste there can contract sickness there. It is very sickening. They could have at least been buried,” he said.

Mr Parker is further concerned that the roaming cattle eat the dumped waste, saying it could turn into a horrible cycle if those cattle have to reach local butcheries.
