Rotting foetus buried in backyard

A foetus that was aborted was found buried in a home in Rensburgdrift

A flurry of activity piqued the interest of passers-by yesterday as police vehicles and a small crowd had gathered at a home in Rensburgdrift.

Police had received information of an aborted foetus that was buried in a yard.

Police spokesperson, Captain Bongani Nyathi, confirmed today that police are investigating the matter after they discovered the foetus yesterday.

“Estcourt police attended to a complaint where an aborted child was buried. On their arrival there they took in a 23-year-old female for questioning after it was alleged that she gave birth and buried a child at their residential place,” said Captain Nyathi.

Police are still trying to seek clues to what led to yesterday’s gruesome discovery.

“There is no clear indication of what had happened here,” added Captain Nyathi.
