Dundee’s Mlungster to drop his music video

"I love qhomu [gqom] music and have recently composed a song titled Kwaze Kwamnandi with Thuli Chesa and Gemaboy..."

Local musician, Mlungisi ‘Mlungster’ Mavuso (30) is making a big name for himself in the music industry. His biggest achievement thus far is composing the hit song Eyadini for Manqonqo.

Born and bred in Dundee, Mlungisi matriculated from Dundee Secondary School in 2007. He never furthered his studies, but instead worked towards his dream by composing songs and performing at functions.

“I love qhomu [gqom] music and have recently composed a song titled Kwaze Kwamnandi with Thuli Chesa and Gemaboy, both established artists from Durban.”

Mlungisi has performed at local events such as the Dundee Experience, and explained he wishes he could perform at the Dundee July.

“For as long as I can remember, the Dundee July belongs to people outside of our area. As a local artist, I would love to be part of the Dundee July performance.”

Asked about why he chose to go and pursue his dream in Durban, Mlungisi said it was a chance to spread his wings in a bigger city. He is adamant however, he hasn’t turned his back on Dundee.

“Up and coming artists and I are currently working with a local dance group. I am paving a way forward for them, with the hopes they too can make it big.”

Mlungisi’s ultimate goal is to have his own recording studio and collaborate with popular artists such as Sjava. In the meantime, the music video for Kwaze Kwamnadi is set to drop soon.

“I am currently on my own and not under any label, but I am working towards getting myself a reputable recording label so I can compose and release more hit songs.”
