Nigerian community demands answers from police after 33-year-old man is found dead

Police officers had gone to the house in Kandahar Avenue to search for drugs and found a deceased male lying on the floor

An inquest docket is being investigated by Ladysmith police after a 33-year-old Nigerian man was found dead in his home in Kandahar Avenue in the early morning hours of Friday, June 14.

The very same day, the Nigerian community of Ladysmith staged a protest in Kandahar Avenue, demanding answers as to what really happened. They also went to Ladysmith police station to demand answers.

Speaking to Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane of the KZN Media Centre, he confirmed the discovery of the man’s body on June 14 at about 4.20am. Police officers had gone to the house in Kandahar Avenue to search for drugs and found a deceased male lying on the floor.

Lt Col Zwane also confirmed that, previously, police recovered drugs at the same house.
