R47 000 find at Wimpy is not a tip
Rita Mthombeni and Salma Xhala were working late, when they noticed a bag left behind by a customer.
Two Wimpy employees made a stunning discovery last week, when they found a bag containing R47 000 in the restaurant. Rita Mthombeni and Salma Xhala were working late, when they noticed a bag left behind by a customer.
“It was around 7.20pm on Tuesday [June 18] when a family of 4 – 2 kids and their parents – left the restaurant. They all got up and walked towards the parking area. We noticed they had left a small bag on one of the chairs. I thought one of the children was in the toilet and would return for the bag, but they didn’t,” explained Rita.
Rita and Salma checked the parking lot but no one was in sight. Rita suggested they open the bag but both were hesitant, not knowing what to expect.
“Finally, Rita opened it slightly and saw money. We then handed it to our manager, Tanja [Caldecott],” said Salma.
