Afripioneers roll out #PadDrive to keep girls in school

Realising that the lack of sanitary pads caused absenteeism at school, the Afripioneers decided to pitch in and help

The Afripioneers recently rolled out a #PadDrive as their latest project. The non-profit organisation (NPO) felt they needed to help female learners stay in school during menstruation.

With this goal in mind, they set out to the municipal parking lot as one of their collection points on June 15.
And that was not all…

Thembalani Mbuli and Xolani Sithole get ready to bite into their wors rolls.

While the public brought in packs of sanitary pads, wors rolls were on sale. R1700 was raised from selling the wors rolls.

Afripioneers secretary Joe Mageza gets hands-on at the #PadDrive.

“People responded really well; we were sold out,” shared Afripioneers secretary Joe Mageza.

If you would like to show your support, make your way to the parking lot any time between 8am and 4pm this Saturday, and the Saturdays to follow until July 18. The team plan to donate the pads on Mandela Day.

“We are going to choose a primary school in Ntabamhlophe and a high school in Loskop, for the learners who cannot afford to buy these items. The survey we conducted showed there is a need for this project, so we are aiming to fill the gap,” explained Afripioneers treasurer Mvuselelo Ngcobo.

The AfriPioneers wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the general public for their support, as well as Bongani Dlamini for his contribution towards this project. For further information, contact Mr Mageza on 078-180-4705 or Mr Ngcobo on 061-817-6994.
