Earlier this month, Vryheid Tracing Team recovered 59 of the 80 six-packs of stolen two-litre Coca-Cola bottles.
The merchandise was stolen from P S Ndaba Transport CC, which trades as LDP Vryheid and is a local distribution partner of Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa.
Police traced the shipment to Mooiplaas, near the Lakeside bypass. At least five people were taken into custody by authorities, including a truck driver, a clerk and three assistants said to be employed by the company, and who are also linked to a theft syndicate.
Complainant, Mr Ndaba was upset yet relieved at news of the recovery.
By the time of going to print this week, he was not available for further comment on the matter, but is said to be glad to see the end of this ‘ongoing problem’.
