Rotary Majuba elects a new president

Rotarians are here to make a difference, says Christo Brockmann, the incoming president of Rotary Majuba.

Christo Brockmann is the 42nd president elected to lead Rotary Majuba (Newcastle). He officially took over the reins at the Rotary induction dinner, on June 28.

Rotary’s area general, Bev Garner said Christo was the ‘ideal president’.

“I know he will lead you well. He knows a lot about the aspects within Rotary, the districts, global grants and the Family Health Days.”

Christo was born in Dundee in 1983, and matriculated from Ferrum High School in 2001. He went on to obtain a degree in Business Administration and an honours degree in Taxation, before joining the finance department in his family’s business. In 2014, he was encouraged by his father to join the Rotary family, and led its public relations team until he became president elect last year.

“Over the next year, my main focus will be Rotary. It is very scary and financially uncertain to allow your career to take a back seat, while you focus on the community, but at the end of the day, this position means you have to give yourself over to community service completely. I am confident things will look after themselves.”
