After initial investigations, police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi says that the two men were working in the same area, transporting goods for people who purchased from a nearby hardware store.
“During the argument it is alleged that a 50-year-old suspect drew his licensed firearm and shot a 55-year-old victim. He was certified dead at the crime scene,” he added.
While the deceased’s body lay bleeding in the parking area, the alleged shooter surrendered himself to Estcourt police.
“He handed over his licensed firearm and himself to the police who detained him,” said Captain Nyathi.
A case of murder is being investigated and the man will appear in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court today (July 5).
