Justice has finally been served for 25-year-old Sandile Mondli Skhila Mabaso, who received three life sentences plus 11 years’ imprisonment recently.
Mabaso appeared in the Pietermaritzburg High Court for three murders, attempted murder and assault. The crimes were committed in October 2016 and allegedly relate to taxi violence in the Ezakheni and Colenso areas.

Mabaso went on a rampage at a tavern in Ezakheni, killing Lungelo Mtshali and Thobelani Ndaba.
Then, in mid-October, Sandile Madondo and Nthuthuko Mlotshwa were standing outside a shop in Colenso when two men opened fire on them. Madondo died, while Mlotshwa survived. Mabaso was one of the shooters.
The accused received three life sentences (one for each murder), five years’ imprisonment for attempted murder and six years for assault with the intention of committing grievous bodily harm.
