Cable theft leaves SPCA out of touch

SPCA representatives called for calm and urged people to contact the emergency number on 072 949 6235, should anyone want to reach them

Mass cable theft, which left parts of Dundee without telephonic communication, continues to plague the SPCA.

Many lower-lying areas of Dundee, particularly around Bulwer and south Gladstone Streets towards the Avon Industrial area, were left affected after cables were stolen on July 3. However, many businesses and organisations are still without telephonic communications, including the SPCA.

Residents have voiced their frustration at not being able to reach the organisation, some even taking to social media to voice their complaints. SPCA representatives have called for calm, and urged residents to call the emergency number instead (072 949 6235).

On Tuesday night, police interrupted thieves attempting to steal cables on Gladtsone Street and the Industrial area. Cables were already cut in Bulwer Street on the same night.
