Lincoln Heights Secondary School received a donation of R500 000 worth of state-of-the-art technical equipment on August 8, towards its computer centre and science laboratory division.
Staff and governing body members of the school, together with representatives of the sponsor company, Diebold Nixdorf, officially launched this new technological era for the school at a ceremony held on its premises.
As part of Diebold Nixdorf’s corporate social investment (CSI) project, Kammy Reddy explained how the donation would change the learning experience for both teachers and learners.

Former learner of LHS and Diebold Nixdorf employee, Himesh Jayraj said it was an easy decision to donate the equipment to his former school, as it built the foundation for his successful career path.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were Ward Councillor and Acting Mayor, Matthew Shunmugam, Phumelela Circuit Manager, Prem Bhagwandass and Chief Education Specialist – Newcastle CMC, Mr. Nkosi.
LHS Principal, Ricky Naicker welcomed the generous donation and was grateful that businesses are still contributing to the upliftment of education.
The computer centre is now equipped with a mobile IT lab, 24 tablets, a laptop, a server, educational software and 10 gigabytes worth of data, a high-tech projector and whiteboard.
The science lab is stocked with ample learning material including a laptop, printer, digital microscope, experiment equipment and a camera to record science experiments.
“We thank Diebold Nixdorf for its sponsorship. We would also like to extend a further thanks to those who worked behind the scenes to make it possible.”
Naicker added LHS was one of the top-performing schools in the Amajuba District, and he looked forward to the learners being able to enhance their educational careers with the new equipment.
