uThukela say water should be back on soon in affected areas

Water is being pumped at maximum pressure

According to uThukela, the Ezakheni Water Treatment Works was not able to pump to the Abattoir Reservoir yesterday (Sunday, April 26), which affected supply to Acaciavale and surrounding areas.

Acaciavale only had water that was left in the pipes and many residents were without water, with lower-lying areas continuing to receive low pressure. Water tankers were dispatched to supply Rose Park and Kandahar Avenue.

uThukela say that water will soon be back on, as booster pumps at Abattoir Hill Reservoir are being used to pump to Acaciavale (Old Ladysmith).

The Abattoir Hill Reservoir is 45% full. It is planned to pump with two pumps until 9am and thereafter with one. The Chisty’s Place booster will also be started up at 9am.

With no burst pipe, the community should receive water at around about that time.

Parts of town are without electricity. We are attempting to get feedback from Alfred Duma Municipality.

Ezakheni is being supplied by water tankers until the situation improves.
