SAPS continue clamp down on lockdown rebels

The ramping up of SAPS patrols has led to a general decrease in crime

SAPS are continuing to clamp down on those who break the national lockdown regulations in place to stem the Coronavirus pandemic.

Over the past week, Dundee SAPS have arrested 15 people for breaking the regulations. Offences included selling cigarettes, selling and/or transporting alcohol, businesses opening to sell non-essential goods and for people breaking the 8pm to 5am curfew without a valid reason.

With SAPS being on full alert and patrols stepped up during the lockdown, SAPS have been successful in also stemming other crimes.

Two arrests were made following four burglaries, two more for motor vehicle theft (both vehicles were recovered) while there were also three arrests for dagga related offences.
