A rush of shoppers are expected on June 1 when bottle stores re-open, albeit under strict conditions

SAPS have over the past made  four more arrests related to lockdown regulations.

These include the selling of cigarettes and liquor and travelling without the necessary permit. In addition, two cases of motor vehicle theft were reported – one on the Dundee/Nquthu road and the other in Sibongile.

A pedestrian was robbed in the central business district but SAPS could not immediately provide further details. There was also a statutory rape case opened, one housebreaking case and two reports of fraud.

SAPS are expecting a rush on local liquor outlets from June 1 when these are allowed to re-open in terms of the level 3 lockdown regulations. Security officials will be on standby to ensure Covid-19 protocols are implemented.
