Nottingham Road business owner dies after brutal attack

The man succumbed to the serious injuries he had sustained and passed away

A case of murder is being investigated by the Nottingham Road police after a man was killed at his well-known eatery at about 8am on Saturday (June 6).

The man and his fiancée were at the establishment when tragedy struck. It is reported that the man was brutally attacked with a panga (bush knife). Fortunately his fiancée managed to escape from the killers.

The man succumbed to the serious injuries he had sustained and passed away. The suspects fled the scene and no arrests have been made.

Democratic Alliance councillor Sandile Mnikati said: “The brutal killing of one of the most gentle and loving members of our community is a tragedy. A life was lost to criminals in such a merciless manner and will leave a scar on our community for years to come.”

The DA was repeatedly called for more action from the provincial government to protect the farming and rural communities in KwaZulu-Natal.
