Young women take on the roles of advocates for change

"As the youth, it is our duty to speak, let our voices be heard and say 'No' to gender-based violence"

Unyaka Wakho Youth Foundation, Advocates for Change continues to be part of various relief programmes in connection with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Youth ambassador Nokulunga Mngadi was elected as a panel member for the Covid-19 Peoples Coalition Task Team KZN, together with Namutula Mukelabai and Phumla Zakwe, who are also representing the youth foundation.

The Coalition Task Team seeks to fight the injustices of gender imbalance within local municipalities. According to the youth foundation, female leaders are robbed of higher positions and their programmes for women empowerment are barely supported within municipality budgets.

Nokulunga explained: “As the youth, it is our duty to speak, let our voices be heard and say ‘No’ to gender-based violence.”
