The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), which is responsible for investigating complaints against police officers, has been urged to investigate a murder case following the death of a 49-year-old woman at her home in the kwaSomshoek area on Tuesday last week (June 2).
It is alleged that the woman was shot and killed by her 51-year-old husband, who is a police officer.
According to a police source, the 51-year-old husband called neighbours to come wash the body and dress the corpse in new clothes after the shooting. The female neighbours who saw what had been done called the police immediately, who responded and arrested the suspect.
