Drug dealers nabbed by police in Vryheid

The officers found a 50-year-old man in possession of a large amount of Methcathinone (CAT) with an estimated street value of around R150,000

Police made three drug-related arrests on Tuesday and Wednesday this week (June 16 and 17).
During an operation by the Provincial Drug & Firearm Unit that was conducted in Vryheid yesterday morning (June 17), the team received information about a man allegedly dealing drugs at his house in South Street. The officers found a 50-year-old man in possession of a large amount of Methcathinone (CAT) with an estimated street value of around R150,000. The man was arrested.
At another house, this time in Xhakaza Street in the Bhekuzulu area, the unit found 24 large plastic wrappings of CAT and R550 in cash, which is suspected to be proceeds of drug dealing. The street value of the recovered drugs is estimated at R30,000. A 31-year-old man was arrested. Both suspects appeared in the Vryheid Magistrate’s Court this morning (June 18).
In another operation on June 16, Magudu police officers conducted a roadblock on the R66 near the Vryheid off-ramp. Upon inspecting a bakkie that was stopped, it was established that the licence disc had expired last year. In addition, police seized three bags of dagga as well as cigarettes from the vehicle. A 27-year-old was arrested and paid a fine of R500.
