DHS Grade 11s back into the ‘learning curve’

hey quickly relaxed when they saw the familiar faces of their register teachers

It has been quite a few weeks since Dundee High School (DHS) initially opened for the matrics and now it’s the turn of the Grade 11 group to return. Many learners entered the premises with mixed emotions and a lot of uncertainty that resembled a ‘first day of school’ scenario. They quickly relaxed when they saw the familiar faces of their register teachers – behind custom-made masks to make them feel at home.

Management decided to split the classes in order to accommodate learners in classrooms, with social distancing regulations in mind. So, in essence, the Grade 11s will only attend school every alternate day.

“We are happy to see our learners and we will continue to do everything in our power to keep everyone safe while teaching and learning continues,” said the school in a statement. Mrs Carter was also spotted in the corridors, painting masks onto the characters on the walls.
When asked what she was up to, she briskly responded: “I’m helping her stay safe!” This serves as a constant reminder to ‘keep your masks on, maintain social distancing and wash your hands’.
