Bergville police nabbed a 55-year-old male from the Emagangangozi area with dagga valued at about R35 000.
Acting on a tip-off from an informant; police and detectives swooped on the unsuspecting man’s home at about 10.30pm last night (July 29).

The information police received indicated that the dagga was concealed in a room that was ‘secretly built’ for storing the drug.
Police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi explained that in order to gain entry to the secret room, officers had to climb onto the roof of the house.
“The information given by the informer to the police was a genuine one. The police recovered one 100 litre container, three 20 litre drums, seven 50kg bags and four 25kg bags of dagga,” stated Captain Nyathi.
The man was arrested and detained at the Bergville police station holding cells. He appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court for a bail application today (July 30).
“Bergville SAPS Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ramlagan was very happy with the excellent work by her members. The total value of the recovered dagga is about R35 000-00,” concluded Captain Nyathi.
