
A 55-year-old suspect was arrested last night (Wednesday, July 29) by Bergville police officers after 220kg of dagga was found in his house in the Emagangangozi area of Bergville.
Following a tip-off about dagga allegedly hidden in a room secretly built for the sole purpose of hiding drugs, uniformed officers and plain clothes detectives swooped on the house.
The information received by the SAPS indicated that you had to climb on top of the house in order to gain access to the hidden room. The info given by the informant turned out to be genuine.
Police recovered a 100-litre container, three 20-litre drums, seven 50kg bags and four 25kg bags, all full of dagga.

The suspect was arrested and detained in the Bergville SAPS holding cells. He appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court today (July 30) for a bail application.
The Bergville SAPS Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ramlagan, commended her officers on their excellent work in making the arrest and recovering a large quantity of drugs.
The street value of the recovered dagga is about R35,000.
