DUNDEE: Readers celebrate re-opening of libraries

All those entering any libraries in the municipal area will have to, of course, wear masks, have their temperatures taken and sanitize their hands.

After a six-month hiatus, bookworms are again smiling because libraries have re-opened in Endumeni! Libraries are the last of the municipal institutions to open following the strict Covid-19 lockdown regulations that were put in place in March.

During this time, avid readers have had to re-read their old books, delve into the variety of books for sale at the Dundee Book Exchange, or ‘stoop’ to watching a movie.. .

So it was with relief that library doors were finally opened last Wednesday – but with rules. All those entering any libraries in the municipal area will have to, of course, wear masks, have their temperatures taken and sanitize their hands.

In addition, a maximum of 25 people at a time will be allowed in to ensure appropriate social distancing measures.

The good news is that fines accumulated during the lockdown will be waived. However, for now, newspapers will not be permitted in libraries and the internal use of library materials will not be permitted. Opening hours have been adjusted to: 9am to 3pm from Monday to Friday. So support your local library and enjoy the freedom of reading!
