NEWCASTLE KZN: SAPS confirms accelerant was used in CBD outfitters fire

An estimated R10 000 worth of clothing was stolen during the incident, say SAPS officials.

SAPS Newcastle is currently investigating a case of business burglary, following a break-in and arson attack at Zacks International on Monday night.

According to a report from Lizzy Arumugam, from the SAPS Newcastle Corporate Communication office, a two-litre bottle of paraffin was used to start the fire at the building, which is situated at the intersection of Allen and Harding Streets.

“Clothing to the value of R10 000 was stolen. Police investigations continue,” added Arumugam.

This remains a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
