Ladysmith KZN: IMA continue to lend a helping hand

60 residents were screened and treated across all the medical stations

The Islamic Medical Association (IMA) Ladysmith conducted an outreach programme at the St Antonines Home for the Aged in Ekuvukeni, which is about 60km outside of Ladysmith.

The IMA team consisted of doctors, dentists, optometrists, audiologists, community workers, local Iman Moulana Cassiem Sulawale, representatives Simon Gumede and Soojat Khan of Operation Sukhuma Sakhe (OSS), Ahmed Karrim from the Al-Imdaad Foundation and learners from the Islamic Educational Centre (IEC).

60 residents were screened and treated across all the medical stations. The IMA is indebted to Sr Busi Hlomane, who manages the home; Mr Ngubane, the chairman of the board; Mr Hlatshwayo, the resident professional nurse at the home; and the staff at the home for facilitating the visit.

“Jazakallah to all IMA members who sacrificed their time and provided a much-needed service that was appreciated by the residents.

May Allah bless you all,” is the message from the IMA. The Al-Imdaad Foundation donated a microwave oven, together with a kettle, iron and toaster to the home, while Br Feroz Moosa of Pietermaritzburg donated some much-needed linen.
