Thieves entered Ithala Bank in Murchison Street through the roof last night (December 9) before cutting their way into the bank safe.

It is believed, at this stage, that the robbers escaped with several million rand in cash.

It is unclear if the bank’s alarm system functioned or not.

This is the second Ithala Bank in the region to be hit, with robbers breaking into the Estcourt branch less than three weeks ago.
