With rainfall predicted for most of the morning, residents should prepare for possible flooding in low-lying areas.
Mark Jacobs of Ressec Security believes it is certain the Ncandu River will burst its banks. Speaking while patrolling along Finnemore Street, Mark said the river is flowing but worsening rain could result in lower areas of Paradise ending up underwater.
The taxi holding area on Sutherland Street has been abandoned too, with the tarred space now completely submerged.
It was reported the Amcor Dam bridge (Umfolozi Avenue/Marconi Drive) is underwater, and the Ncandu River has burst its banks at the Trim Park. Mark added water was ‘gushing’ from the weir in Fernwood, sparking concern among residents there.
Rising water levels in Paradise have even attracted a few curious residents, who watched the swollen river from the shelter of umbrellas and discussed previous flooding incidents.
