GLENCOE KZN: Sarel Cilliers spreads the love of reading
... And on the sporting front: It has been far too long that our sports fields have been silent and the battle cries will soon be resonating throughout the district
Last week, the library at Sarel Cilliers was delighted to receive donations of isiZulu reading material and textbooks from Mzimela Senior Secondary School in Ladysmith. Library assistant Miss BP Mahlaba collaborated with school principal Mr Ngobese to take over excess stock and enrich our learners. Sarel Cilliers is very grateful for the donation and thanks everyone at Mzimela Senior Secondary School for enriching our school library. The donated books included textbooks for Grade 8 to Grade 12, as well as a number of novels.
First Aid Training
First Aid Training took place at the school on Saturday. Eight members of staff, as well as the head Boy and head girl of the hostels, attended the Level 1 course presented by Miss Debbie Sharp. With five Sarel Cilliers staff members now on First Aid Level 3, the plan is to continue to offer courses and to train all the educators and coaches in basic First Aid. First Aid qualifications will help to facilitate the Sarel Cilliers Health & Safety policy and make the classes a safer learning environment.
Rugby recommences after long break T
he students are excited as term 1 comes to an end… And while the short holiday offers a brief respite from academics, the Sarel Cilliers first and second rugby teams for boys and girls will be starting their break by participating in a rugby tournament to be held at Battlefields Country Lodge this weekend.
There are a number of visiting schools from outside our district, and fun and festivities are planned for the entire weekend. The school wishes all the players the best of luck and looks forward to watching some excellent rugby matches. It has been far too long that our sports fields have been silent and the battle cries will be resonating throughout the district this coming weekend.
