NEWCASTLE KZN: 49-year-old man arrested for possession of suspected stolen vehicle
The suspect has since appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate's Court.
On May 16 and 17, an Intelligence Driven Operation in Osizweni was carried out with the support of Osizweni Crime Prevention members and the Zululand Cluster Task Team.
The operation, according to Newcastle SAPS Communications Officer Lizzy Arumugam, was based on drug-related and other cases.
“On May 17, after receiving information about a suspected stolen motor vehicle, the members went to a certain house in Section (A) at Osizweni,” Arumugam said.
The members discovered a White 1400 Nissan Bakkie when they arrived at the specified spot.
“The defendant was questioned about how he came into possession of the car, but he was unable to provide an answer.”
According to Arumugam, the 59-year-old man was previously arrested for allegedly stealing a truck, which was later discovered.
The suspect has since appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court.
